How to Photograph Your Collection
Good photos help us give you a better estimate. You don’t need special equipment or a photo of every coin.
Start With Overview Photos
Photograph the collection in groups. Show albums, boxes, rolls, holders, sets, loose coins, and other material clearly enough to see what’s there.
Don't Clean or Open Anything
Don’t clean coins, remove them from holders, or open sealed Mint packaging. Leave original packaging intact.
Add a Few Closer Photos
Include closer shots of anything unusual, older, labeled, certified, or potentially important.
Tell Us What You Know
Share any useful background—where the collection came from, how it was stored, or anything you’ve already noticed. It’s fine if you know very little.
Don't Photograph Every Coin
For large collections, group photos are usually the best place to start. Individual photos can be added later if something needs a closer look.
